* To the Night Urban Sprint (extra XI MOC classification) 4 courses were created with the following distances:

Course 1 – 1,9 km
Course 2 – 2,2 km
Course 3 – 2,6 km
Course 4 – 3,2 km

The athletes that have registered in this race (Night Urban Sprint) will be divided by the 4 courses,
according to their class in the XI MOC, according to the table in Technical Informations – Courses.

If any athlete registered in the race according to the table, wishes to change course, must send an e-mail to info@coc.pt expressing that change no later than the 16th of February.

* Marian Davidik and Lukas Bartak have confirmed their participation in the XI MOC 2009.
Two of the greatest Slovakian Orienteering names confirmed their presence in the XI MOC 2009. Both are coming again to our country to participate in a COC event once more, after on the 22nd and 23rd of February in 2003, Davidik was classified in 2nd place on the V MOC and Bartak won the Junior class. This event took place on the Pedrógão maps (1st Long Distance race) and on the Marrazes map that was debuted on that day (Middle Distance).

* Simone Niggli-Luder, who for several years has led the World Ranking, is the most famous name among athletes who have already registered in WRE race on the 28th of February.

But the Swiss National Team, in which Simone is integrated, brings to Portugal several famous names like Daniel Hubman, the current nº 1 of the World Ranking, Mathias Merz nº 5, while in the female come names as Lea Muller, nº 15 and nº 17 Salmi Vroni.

We can not forget to mention Matthias Niggli presence, Simone’s husband. This couple won the 2002 POM, the first major COC’s international organisation.

We take this opportunity to congratulate the couple who recently saw their family increased with the birth of their daughter on September 3rd.

* 2 Model Events available on the 27th February: one in Pataias – Lagoa map, nearby the Event Centre (in Escola EB 2+3 of Pataias) in a similar terrain of the XI MOC 2nd day; another in Paredes da Vitória map, by the sea together with the Atlantic Ocean, in a similar terrain of the 1st day Middle Distance Race (WRE).

* Night Urban Sprint, in Alcobaça city, with the Arena in front of the Alcobaça Monastery, national heritage monument. After this race there will be a barbecue offered to all participants in this race. This race will have 4 courses, start times between 19.00h and 20.30h, using the Start station. In the end, the athletes will receive the ticket to access the barbecue meal.

* The event courses were delivered to the IOF and to the National Adviser for analyzing and validation: After the meeting with the National Advisor, Antonio Amador, on the past 5th of December, where the general ideas about the event where discussed, the courses of the event where delivered in order to analyze and get their validation.

* The Control Points team was on the terrain on the last weekend with the main goal of recognizing the controls on the terrains, put tape and test courses.

* The menus that will be served on the XI MOC Arena restaurant were defined:
